Why should anyone pay outrageous fees to volunteer?

Our Volunteers are from all over the world. We currently have volunteer applicants from 36 different countries.

The Idea of JustUsFriends was born with two volunteers sitting and talking one night in Tanzania. They were talking about how so many people want to go help but cannot afford to. Some volunteer organizations charge up to $3,000 a month just to stay and work. Why should people pay this much money to volunteer? That's one we still don't have a good answer for.

We have all been volunteers who started our organization. And we know what is important for an organization to offer. There are three things an organization should offer.r.

They must offer quality programs that a volunteer really can connect with. We offer quality programs for volunteers, and we won't just throw them into something they don't want. We offer comfortable, safe lodging, with prepared meals three times a day. Our quarters are safe, clean, comfortable and new.

The programs that we offer are the Medical Program, Orphanage Program, School Program, and Local Outreach Program. We are always looking for new programs for our volunteers and hope to have more soon.

As we stated above, most organizations charge a Registration fee of $250.00, an orientation fee of $350 then they charge anywhere from $$100 to $300 per week for room and board. At JustUsFriends, we do not have costly administrative fees, so we do not ask for application fees, or orientation fees. We do encourage our volunteers to donate $15 per day. This donation is split with $7.00 per day going to GoodHope Orphanage to help buy groceries for the orphans, and $8.00 to help the clinic purchase medication and help with electric costs. That's it! It's that simple. And best of all, you pay your money direct to the people on the ground so you know for sure where your donation is going and better yet, you can see for yourself where the money is being spent.

Space is limited so we only take people who are serious about helping. Since we don’t charge anything we must have a copy of airline ticket, once you are approved before we will finalize your volunteer plans. We can only pencil you in and it is first come, first serve.

Volunteering In Tanzania Africa

Tanzania, is one of the most magical places you will ever go. The landscape is very diverse with snow topped mountains, large valleys, savannahs, craters, lakes, rainforests, and waterfalls.

Right now our current projects are located outside of Arusha, Tanzania at the GoodHope Orphanage and School. We have recently started construction of a new medical center and volunteer quarters. The center should be up and running by end of May 2011.

We offer several different volunteer programs. You can volunteer with the medical center, the orphanage, or the school. What program you choose is up to you, but make sure it’s a program that interests you. Whatever you decide to do while you are in Tanzania, it will make a difference in someone’s life and probably your own life as well.
